This might not quite involve knocking colorful balls around using a long stick, but this carrom event comes close. Standard carrom rules apply, but you must play from where the striker is. All about placement, this game requires a keen eye for angles and speed.
Game Rules
Top
- All the college teams willing to participate in the event should register online.
- Maximum teams allowed for registration would be 24.
- Any number of teams of a college can register for this event.
- Registrations will be confirmed based on first come first serve basis. Each college team should have a valid college ID proof for participation.
- The aim of the game is to put one's maximum carrommen before one's opponent puts his/hers within the time constraint. The last position of the striker will always be the starting location for the next shot to be played by the next player (as in Pool)
- The baseline will not be used as a benchmark for hitting one's coin (except in the beginning shot, when the shot has to be hit from the baseline only)
- The queen can be pocketed and then "covered" only after pocketing 4 coins of one's own carrommen.
- Dragging the striker is not allowed. The striker has to be hit as done in conventional carrom game.
- Any of the hands can be used for hitting the striker during a shot.
- A player has to remain seated while playing a shot from the striker (even if the striker is distant from him).
- However body parts can cross the diagonal while playing a shot.
- Points for coins will have same weightage as in conventional form of game (3 for queen and 1 for a white/black carrom coin)
- The points secured by a team depends on the number of coins pocketed during the board.
- The time limit for each board would be 10 min. after which the difference of points secured by teams in that board will be noted and a new board will be started.
- Case 1: If Team A has pocketed 5 White carrommen and Team B has pocketed 4 Black carrommen and Queen has not been pocketed, Team A will get 5-4 = 1 point for that board and Team B will not get any point.
- Case 2: If Team A has pocketed Queen also along with 5 White coins whereas Team B has pocketed 4 Black coins, then Team A will get (5-4)+3 = 4 points for that board and Team B will not get any point.
- Case 3: If Team A has pocketed 5 White coins and Team B has pocketed 4 Black coins along with Queen, then Team B will get (4+3) - 5 = 2 points for the board and Team A will not get any point.
- If a player commits a foul by pocketing a striker without any coin, then a foul will be placed by opponent and the next player will get a chance to hit the striker anywhere from the baseline.
- If a player commits a foul by pocketing a striker along with one or more of his/her own coins, then those coins along with one foul will be placed by the opponent and the same player will get a chance to hit the striker anywhere from his baseline.
